Cheesy Black Bean Tamale Pie with Red Sauce and Queso Fresco


Delicious Mexican comfort food with a taste that really pops. 

We've gotten more direct positive feedback on this dish than any other, including from Connor, a 12 year old customer (and budding food writer!):

"The Tamale Pie is the best. The beans on the bottom are suburb as they are homemade and the sauce makes it even better. It is topped with a wonderful layers of many cheeses that combine all of the flavors for a perfectly harmonious dish. Making meals with organic, fresh ingredients really pays off."

Layers of creamy organic polenta (ground corn cooked with milk and sea salt) with our made-from-scratch organic black beans, organic onions, organic sweet pepper, and organic cilantro. Smothered in our bright red mildly spicy housemade red enchilada sauce* and topped with a gooey layer of Tillamook cheddar cheese and queso fresco.

One Tin. 4 servings. Perfect with our Slaw this week.

Freezes very well making this a wonderfully convenient dish!

*Organic tomato, organic onion and garlic, organic roasted chiles, red chile powder, paprika, cumin and Mexican oregano from Savory Spice Shop,  filtered water, olive oil, and Real sea salt.
